Pulling Together In Difficult Times
Life has been rather hectic lately. Between living in a house we are still finishing (never do that…), earning about a half of what we need to make ends meet, and some health issues in our family, let’s just say it is a little tough. What’s worse, it has been this way for quite some time.
We are, however, fortunate to understand one important thing: it is us against the difficulties. I have seen many families fight when difficult times come. Instead of pulling together for support, they make things worse by playing the blame game, accusing each other, making unreasonable demands. I could never understand that.
I suppose I could “demand” that we have a completely finished house – right now. I suppose my husband could also “demand” that I get a well-paying job – right now, despite the fact that nobody seems to be hiring. What exactly would it accomplish?? Nothing. Nothing but emotional turmoil, in a time when we both need peace and help.
So I will just keep going, keep doing what I can, helping my husband to paint when needed and bringing in an extra dollar or two whenever I have a chance. If life insists on throwing hardships at us, there is not much we can do about it; but we are in complete control of how we treat each other, whether we fight these hardships together or cause more trouble by quarrelling.
